    Conleth Hill is a highly regarded Northern Irish actor born Conleth Seamus Eoin Croiston Hill on November 24, 1964, in Ballycastle, County Antrim, Northern Ireland.

    Renowned for his exceptional versatility, he excels in both stage and screen, often delivering nuanced performances that blend humor, depth, and subtlety.

    Hill gained widespread international fame for portraying the enigmatic and manipulative Lord Varys in HBO’s epic fantasy series Game of Thrones (2011–2019).

    Conleth has an older brother named Ronan Hill.

    He works as a cameraman, a sister who is a producer in film and television, and a younger brother named Ronan Hill, a production sound mixer and sound engineer.

    Ronan achieved significant recognition for his contributions to Game of Thrones, where he won multiple Emmy Awards for outstanding sound mixing on the series.

    Career

    Hill’s acting journey began after training at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, from which he graduated in 1989.

    He launched his professional career in the mid-1980s with roles in British television series such as The Bill, followed by his first recurring part in the Channel 4 sitcom Blue Heaven (1994).

    Hill appeared in Woody Allen’s Whatever Works (2009) and took on recurring roles in series like Suits (USA Network).

    His most iconic screen role arrived with Game of Thrones, where he portrayed the cunning spymaster Varys across eight seasons, earning global recognition.

    Other notable credits include films such as Salmon Fishing in the Yemen (2011), Herself (2020), and television projects like Holding (2022), based on Graham Norton’s novel, in which he starred as Sergeant PJ Collins.

    Hill has continued to balance high-profile screen work with acclaimed stage performances at venues including the National Theatre and West End.

    Conleth Hill’s talent has been consistently honored, particularly in theater.

    He won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in 2001 for his performance in Stones in His Pockets.

    He received a second Laurence Olivier Award in 2005 for Best Performance in a Supporting Role in a Musical for his role in The Producers.

    Hill earned two Tony Award nominations for Best Actor in a Play: one in 2001 for Stones in His Pockets and another in 2008 for The Seafarer.

    Additional stage honors include a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play for The Seafarer.

    For his work on Game of Thrones, he received nominations for Screen Actors Guild Awards as part of the ensemble cast.
