A court has issued a warrant to arrest the ailing chairman of London Distillers Mohan Galot in a forgery case.

Galot is said to be away in London for medical reasons, his son Avin said.

The prosecution said he had failed to attend court as directed in the case and successfully applied for the warrant to arrest him on April 1, 2025.

A Nairobi Magistrate’s court issued the warrant after the prosecution claimed they were unable to find Galot. He failed to attend the court session in relation to criminal case number 276 of 2018.

Senior Principal Magistrate Dolphina Alego issued the warrant.

Galot is accused of forging signatures of public officers in the office of Registrar of Companies.

But he denies the allegations, arguing that Pravin Galot and Rajesh Galot are using criminal proceedings to bully him into ceding his control over the companies.

Galot lost his High Court case in which he was seeking to halt his criminal prosecution.

His legal team was struggling to overturn the order.

His son who is the director at the London Distillers Kenya (LDK) said the arrest warrant was issued because the court did not acknowledge the medical report given to the magistrate.

He said they would seek to overturn the orders.

Galot is the owner of London Distillers Kenya (LDK) – one of the largest alcohol manufacturers in Kenya. He is easily among the wealthiest individuals in the country. Galot hit the headlines on Sunday, July 17, 2022, after the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) declined to withdraw forgery charges against the businessman and his wife, Santosh Galot.

The businessman has interests in several other companies. These include; Bounty Ltd, Galot International Ltd, King Woolen Mills Ltd, Dyno Holdings Ltd, Mohan Meakin Ltd, Galot Industries Ltd, Manchester Outfitters Ltd among others. LDK boasts over 25 liquor brands of whisky, gin, brandy, vodka, rum, and the unique Safari Cane and liqueurs. Its brands Safari Cane and Old Monk Rum made global headlines after meeting international standards of quality at the Monde Selection Awards in Brussels, Belgium.
