Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed while appearing before the Education Committee divulged that her son had asked her for money to buy leaked KCSE examination papers.

The CS told the already shocked Members of Parliament that her son who sat for his national exams back in 2015 blamed her for failing to attain an A plain grade. He instead scored a B plus grade.

She told the legislators that a teacher had asked the students to get the money from their guardians or parents.

“My son was in Form Four three years ago. He came asking for money, saying a teacher in his school had asked for the cash. According to the teacher, the money was to be used in buying the students leaked KCSE papers. I told my son that I did not have the money, and that I was going to work for it. He insisted the money was needed urgently. I stood my ground, nonetheless,” CS Amina said.

The former Foreign Affairs CS was being grilled over the high number of school unrests specially in second term.

She explained that students are often uneasy as the final exams approach and leakages unavailable.

On matters Moi Girls rape saga, she clarified that medical tests show that the Form 2 student was in deed raped, contrary to reports from the teachers union.

“The adults told the students to shower and wear uniforms to avoid a bad name for the school. Report from 2 hospitals show there was penetration,” she said.

KUPPET in their preliminary report said that the girl had been assaulted by fellow students – lesbians- whose advances she had rejected.
