    The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) are working round the clock to publicly prosecute and blackmail key state employees by planting stories in the media.

    In the case of Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) which was most recently rocked by a multi-billion scandal, DCI Kinoti has supposedly been used by KPC’s Chairman of the board John Ngumi to oust those implicated in corruption scandals without using the right channels.

    Kinoti has become a source of information for certain journalists. For instance, in Tuesday’s (17 July, 2018) issue of the Daily Nation, Former Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) Managing Director Charles Tanui was allegedly summoned by the DCI for hiring Gloria Khafafa as the company’s legal secretary without proper documentation.

    In the article “Ex-KPC MD Tanui Summoned Over Legal Officer’s Fake Papers,” the journalist in this case accuses Ms Khafafa of having gained employment using fake papers, being unfit to hold office and a criminal not qualified to hold her current position, allegations she has denied.

    Khafafa has sought for an apology from the daily within seven days, after which she will seek legal redress.

    Kahawa Tungu has also learnt that the Sh.2 billion fraud unearthed at KPC, orchestrated by the company’s welder John Huba Waka, his wife Beryl Aluoch and a senior officer at the company, Francis Juma was also planted in the mainstream media through people close to the office of DCI boss George Kinoti.

    In his report Kinoti said that the trio together with a lawyer only identified as Nyandieka “tried to subdue the truth from being revealed through investigations.”

    In fact he said that the suspects tried to influence the investigations by bribing the investigating officer Sh.20,000.

    On July 6 EACC CEO Halakhe Waqo said that the commission had put forward 68 names of Governors, MPs, parastatal heads for lack of integrity.

    Again on July 8 the commission that legislators sought to disband were on the hunt for at least 140 county officers across the 47 counties who they claimed had amassed wealth irregularly.

    Documents proving KPC Legal boss has real papers;

    “We are investigating at least three senior and middle level officers, people like governors and their close associates, procurement officers and accountants, people who sign documents, in each of the 47 counties,” Waqo said.

    Last week Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong was paraded in front of the media as he was taken to court by the EACC officers. The governor had not evaded arrest and according to him, he surrendered himself to the commission at Integrity Centre.
