Decide whether you’re for Matiangi or Ruto, Governor Arati told

Kisii Governor Simba Arati was Saturday asked to choose if he was genuinely supporting Dr Fred Matiangi or President William Ruto’s two term push.

Governor Aspirant Dr. Enock Ondari said the governor was a stumbling block in the community unit bid to rally support for Dr Matiangi’s cause.

“There is no middle ground, it is with us or our political enemies, no lukewarmness should be entertained,” Ondari told congregants in Nyamache Saturday during a church service.

Ondari especially said he was perturbed by the constant use is of slurs against the former CS terming by Arati terming it unhelpful.

“Today at a church service for instance I listened with consternation his use of very distateful terms in refering to him. For avoidance of doubt I want him to know that that was cheap, he should respect him,” stated Ondari.

Arati was Saturday quoted saying that he would begin to support Matiangi at the right time after finishing with Ruto.

“Your son, however lame, you must be proud of him…. let’s get what belongs to us from William Ruto first,” stated Arati during a church service in Nyamache, Bobasi Saturday.

He, however, said he would not abandon him but asked him to end his association with Senator Richard Onyonka .

“You should find a way of leaving some of those guys who are coalescing around you,” stated Arati.

Ondari described Arati as neither hot nor cold in supporting Matiangi and asked him to decide.

“It is time you decide whether you’re with us in supporting Matiangi or with those who are fighting us, there is middle ground,” Ondari told journalists.

Dr Ondari described Matiangi as the most legitimate candidate for Kenya’s presidency, saying the country needs bold and transformative leadership.

He also praised Matiang’i’s track record in public service, describing him as a “visionary leader with unmatched dedication to national development and integrity.”

“Dr. Matiang’i has demonstrated the kind of leadership this country needs—decisive, principled, and people-centered,” said Ondari.

“As we approach the next general elections, we must rally behind candidates who put Kenya first. Dr. Matiang’i is one of them.”

During the Sabbath service in Nyamache Saturday, Matiangi asked Arati to coax his party boss Raila Odinga to back him in the 2027 polls.

He described as unsettling the mounting graft in the Ruto government.

Ondari is separately seeking to unseat the incumbent Kisii Governor in the 2027 elections.

Matiang’i’s rise from a technocrat to a national figure, Ondari said, was proof of his competence and commitment to public service.

“He is not just from Kisii, he is a national asset,” Ondari added.

“If Kenya is ready for a serious turnaround, then we should be ready to support serious leaders.”
