The demolitions are still on going with latest ones happening along the busy Outer Ring road. Traders woke up to Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) together with Kenya power, the National Youth Service, Kenya police and county government demolishing their shops

One of buildings that was demolished was a shop that had been built and  donated by Embakasi West Member of Parliament Peter Theuri.

The traders complained that they were not given any notice before the demolitions. They said that the government should have given them notice to relocate before demolishing their structures.

“We fail to understand why the demolitions have to happen without notice or options for relocation,” shoe trader said.

Buildings that were sitting on riparian land and those built on road reserves.
