Deputy Inspector General of the National Police Service Joseph Kiget has promised stern action against Asbel Kiprop for using unofficial channels to vent his frustrations.

Kiprop, a former Olympics and World 1500m champion, took to social media on Saturday to vent out following his recent ban over doping.

In one of his tweets, the 29-year-old police constable asked to be relieved of his duties and for the service to disarm him before he uses their gun to seek justice.

Speaking to the Daily Nation, Kiget said that “we don’t condone such behaviors” and promised firm “administrative action” against the athlete, who has since returned his firearm.

“We don’t condone such behaviour from our officers. Channels of addressing personal grievances are provided in the NPS rules and regulations and firm administrative action will be taken,” said Kiget.
