A doctor in Nairobi has been charged with defiling a mentally challenged girl.
The 55-year-old identified as Andrew Njeru is said to have taken advantage of the 14-year-old girl on February 3.
He is also facing other charges of committing an indecent act with the minor contrary to the laws of Kenya.
According to a police statement, the girl was receiving treatment at Njeru’s Clinic in Mwiki which is near her home.
The prosecution told the court that on the fateful day, the accused convinced the girl who was cleaning her shoes to accompany him to his clinic.
However, the girl refused forcing him to drag the her to his house before committing the act on her.
After the incident, Njeru is reported to have warned the girl from revealing what had transpired to anyone.

He is further said to have given the minor a Ksh50 note to seal the ‘secret’.
However, the girl later revealed the secret to her mother who alerted the police.
Njeru denied all charges leveled against him and was released on a Ksh300,000 bail.
The matter is set to be mentioned on February 26.
