Dominik Kotarski is a Croatian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper.

He currently plays for Danish Superliga club FC Copenhagen and represents the Croatia national team.

Known for his development through strong youth systems and a solid senior career in the Netherlands, Croatia, Greece, and Denmark, Kotarski has established himself as a reliable shot-stopper and a senior international for his country.

    Siblings

Dominik has a sister named Ivana, who works as a teacher of Croatian language at the Sports Gymnasium, the same school Dominik attended during his youth.

He also has a brother named Jurica.

In interviews around the time of his move to Ajax, Kotarski noted that his sister Ivana spent a lot of time with him after he moved to Zagreb for football and that his brother Jurica provided encouragement during key moments in his career.

     Career

Kotarski began his football journey at the age of six with local club NK Tondach Bedekovčina.

In 2011 he joined the academy of Dinamo Zagreb, where he developed for several years and lived in the club’s facilities after moving to Zagreb at around age 13.

In July 2017 he agreed terms with Ajax, officially joining the Dutch club after turning 18.

He featured regularly for Jong Ajax in the Eerste Divisie, making around 60 appearances, while remaining part of the first-team setup without making a senior league appearance for Ajax.

In the 2021–22 season he returned to Croatia on loan at HNK Gorica, where he became the first-choice goalkeeper and gained valuable top-flight experience with around two dozen league appearances.

After a short permanent spell linked to Gorica, he transferred to Greek club PAOK in 2022.

At PAOK he established himself as the main goalkeeper, accumulating a high number of appearances (around 96 in the Super League across his time there) and helping the side compete in domestic and European competitions.

In July 2025 he signed a multi-year deal with FC Copenhagen in the Danish Superliga, where he has continued as a regular starter.

On the international stage he progressed through Croatia’s youth teams, standing out at the 2017 UEFA European Under-17 Championship.

He received a preliminary call-up for the 2022 FIFA World Cup squad but did not make the final list.

Kotarski earned his senior debut for Croatia in March 2024 in a friendly against Egypt and has since added further caps.

    Accolades

Kotarski’s individual recognition includes selection in the Team of the Tournament at the 2017 UEFA European Under-17 Championship and the Super League Greece Goalkeeper of the Season award for 2023–24 while at PAOK.

At club level he was part of Jong Ajax’s Eerste Divisie title-winning side in 2017–18.

With Ajax’s first team he was a squad member during successful campaigns that brought Eredivisie titles in 2018–19 and 2020–21, KNVB Cup wins in the same seasons, and a Johan Cruyff Shield (Dutch Super Cup).

With PAOK he contributed to the Greek Super League title in the 2023–24 season.
