    Donté Stallworth Contracts

One of Stallworth’s biggest contracts came in 2007, when he signed a six-year deal worth $30 million with the New England Patriots. The agreement included performance conditions that allowed the team to release him if expectations were not met.

After leaving the Patriots, Stallworth signed another major contract reportedly worth $35 million with the Cleveland Browns.

However, his time with the Browns was cut short. He missed the 2009 NFL season following a suspension linked to his conviction for DUI manslaughter, which ultimately led to the termination of his contract.

Later in his career, Stallworth signed a one-year deal worth $900,000 with the Baltimore Ravens and also returned briefly to the Patriots before being released again.

    Early Life

Donté Stallworth was born on November 10, 1980, in Sacramento, California.

He attended Grant Union High School, where he excelled in both football and track and field. In athletics, he posted impressive personal records of 10.49 seconds in the 100 meters and 7.16 meters in the long jump, showing the speed that later helped him succeed as a wide receiver.

    College Football Career

Stallworth went on to play college football at the Tennessee Volunteers at the University of Tennessee.

During his time with the team, he earned the nickname “Hands” because of his reliable catching ability. He finished his college career with 1,747 receiving yards, ranking ninth in school history at the time.

    New Orleans Saints

Stallworth was selected in the first round of the 2002 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints.

He made an immediate impact in his rookie season, catching eight touchdown passes. By 2004, he had become a full-time starter and recorded 767 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

His best season with the Saints came in 2005, when he finished with 70 receptions for 945 yards and seven touchdowns.

    Philadelphia Eagles

In 2006, Stallworth was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles.

He made an impressive debut, catching six passes for 141 yards and a touchdown in his first game. Despite missing three games due to a hamstring injury, he finished the season with 725 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

    New England Patriots

In 2007, Stallworth joined the New England Patriots on a six-year deal.

That season, the Patriots completed a historic 16–0 regular season, though they ultimately lost Super Bowl XLII to the New York Giants.

After the season, Stallworth became a free agent.

    Cleveland Browns

Shortly afterward, he signed a seven-year deal with the Cleveland Browns.

However, his production dropped significantly, finishing the 2008 season with just 17 receptions for 170 yards and one touchdown. Following his legal issues in 2009, he missed the entire season and was later released by the Browns in February 2010.

    Baltimore Ravens and Washington Redskins

Stallworth later joined the Baltimore Ravens on a one-year contract. His season was affected by injuries, including a broken foot during the preseason.

In 2011, he signed a one-year contract with the Washington Redskins, finishing the season with 22 receptions, 309 receiving yards, and two touchdowns.

    Final Season With the Patriots

Stallworth returned to the New England Patriots in 2012. He was released during the preseason but re-signed later in the year after Julian Edelman suffered an injury.

He ultimately appeared in just one game before an ankle injury ended his season.

    Life After the NFL

After briefly returning to the Redskins in 2013, Stallworth retired from professional football.

In 2014, he joined The Huffington Post through a six-month fellowship, covering national security and politics.

Two years later, he became a strategy consultant at Valens Global, focusing on security strategies for public venues.

    DUI Manslaughter Case

In March 2009, Stallworth struck and killed a pedestrian while driving in Miami Beach, Florida. Authorities later determined that his blood-alcohol level was above the legal limit.

He was charged with DUI manslaughter and later entered a plea agreement that included 30 days in jail, 1,000 hours of community service, two years of community control, and eight years of probation. His Florida driver’s license was also permanently suspended.

Stallworth was released after serving 24 days in jail.

    Hot Air Balloon Accident

In March 2013, Stallworth and his girlfriend Soleil Guerrero were injured in a hot air balloon accident in Florida while celebrating her birthday.

The balloon basket struck power lines, causing electrocution and severe burns. Both were hospitalized with second- and third-degree burns but survived the incident.
