Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji has asked DCI George Kinoti to ascertain that the securities and funds presented by the NYS suspects are not proceeds of crime.
In a letter dated 20 June, 2018 Haji said that the Assets Recovery Agency had raised concerns that some of the funds intended to be use are not only suspect bus also the subject of current cases.
Judge Hedwig Ong’udi on Tuesday released the 48 suspects on Sh.5 million bond, Sh.2 million surety each, and a cash bail of Sh.1 million each.
The suspects were freed on condition that they deposit their travel documents with the court and not make contact with key witnesses.

Justice Ong’undi also ordered the Sh.9 billion suspects never going to their offices without police officers.
The Ngirita family on their part asked the court to alter the requirements following the freezing of their accounts and seizing of assets.
