Dustin Johnson is one of the most accomplished American professional golfers of his generation.
Born Dustin Hunter Johnson on June 22, 1984, in Columbia, South Carolina, he is widely known by his nickname DJ.
Johnson developed his game under the guidance of his father, Scott, and rose through the amateur ranks before turning professional in 2007 after a standout college career at Coastal Carolina University.
Over the course of his career, he has been recognized for his exceptional length off the tee, smooth swing, and ability to dominate elite fields, reaching the world number one ranking for a total of 135 weeks.
Siblings
Dustin has two siblings: a younger brother named Austin Johnson and a sister named Laurie.
Austin, often referred to as AJ, has played a particularly prominent role in Dustin’s professional life as his full-time caddie since 2013.
Austin previously played basketball at Charleston Southern University and has earned recognition, including caddie awards, for his contributions.
Laurie, while less publicly visible in the golf world, completes the Johnson sibling trio alongside Dustin and Austin.

Career
Johnson’s professional journey began shortly after his college days, where he earned multiple All-American honors and helped put Coastal Carolina on the map.
He secured his first PGA Tour victory in 2008 at the Turning Stone Resort Championship and quickly established himself as a consistent winner, claiming at least one PGA Tour title in 15 of his 16 seasons on the circuit.
Known for his prodigious driving distance and scoring ability, he accumulated 24 PGA Tour wins, including multiple FedEx Cup Playoff events and signature tournaments.
A pivotal moment came in 2016 when he captured his first major championship, the U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club, winning by three strokes with a score of 4-under par.
His game reached new heights in 2020 amid the challenges of the pandemic year, highlighted by a dominant performance at the Masters Tournament, where he set a record with a 20-under-par total of 268 to win by five strokes.
That same season, he also claimed the FedEx Cup title.
In 2022, Johnson made the high-profile move to the LIV Golf League, where he has continued to compete successfully, adding individual and team victories while maintaining his status as a top contender.
Accolades
Johnson has secured two major championships—the 2016 U.S. Open and the 2020 Masters—along with six World Golf Championships victories, a total second only to Tiger Woods.
He was the first player to win all four individual World Golf Championship events.
Johnson spent extensive time atop the Official World Golf Ranking and earned PGA Tour Player of the Year honors, as well as the Byron Nelson Award and Vardon Trophy for lowest scoring average in 2016.
He led the PGA Tour in money winnings multiple times and holds the record for the lowest 72-hole score in Masters history.
