The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is looking into allegations of procurement irregularities of tenders in Moses Kuria’s backyard of Gatundu South.

In a letter addressed to the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) manager, the body wants original documents to help facilitate investigations.

Some of the companies in the long list of wrongful tendering is; Numerical Strength Ltd, Finishline Construction Company, Lujatech Enterprises, Smith & Gold Production, Mwaura Timber Yard, Biyn Business Consultants, Kiki Holdings, Kelly (E.A), Supreme General Traders and Emerging Capital Holdings.

The commission wants among others the signed tender opening registers and minutes, bid documents for bidders, prequalified list of contractors for the financial years 2014-2018.

EACC is also seeking to be furnished with the signed tender committee award minutes, professional opinion reports, payment voucher, invoices, certificates of work completions among others.

On February four Gatundu South residents faulted the EACC and DCI for slacking in investigating the lawmaker and the entire CDF committee.

The four; Moses Njuguna, Moses Muhia, Isaac Karanja and Elija Gicheru Kimani noted that they reported the matter in 2017, but were yet to receive the findings from EACC.

“Kindly note Gatundu South residents have continued to receive money under CDF Act for development of various projects and the allocation which is managed by CDF Committee has continued to be misappropriated by the said committee and the MP according to findings by our clients,” their petition reads in part.

The outspoken legislator has in the past accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of abandoning the Mt Kenya region in terms of development.

Kuria has also made his intentions clear on running for the country’s top seat come 2022.
