The Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission will focus on tackling bribery at service delivery points as part of efforts to deal with the menace.
Further, it will focus on the monitoring of capital-intensive projects and the recovery and forfeiture of unexplained assets.
EACC CEO Abdi Mohamud made the remarks at a commonwealth regional conference of heads of anti corruption agencies in Africa.
Mohamud noted that EACC was implementing its third Strategic Plan (2023–2028) having prioritized key strategic interventions to strengthen the fight against corruption.
The anti-corruption heads jointly resolved to enhance international cooperation through removal of jurisdictional and procedural barriers as well as tackling challenges of financial crimes while at the same time developing strategies for investigators and prosecutors to effectively trace and recover proceeds of corruption among others.
The meeting was held in Cape Town, South Africa.
It was the 15th Commonwealth Regional Conference of Heads of Anti-Corruption Agencies in Africa, hosted by the Government of the Republic of South Africa in collaboration with the Commonwealth Secretariat, from 5–9 May 2025.
The Commonwealth Regional Conference is held annually to foster inter-agency collaboration, promote knowledge exchange on anti-corruption strategies, and strengthen partnerships among governments, civil society, and the private sector.
