Lawyer Edwin Sifuna exposed that the Inspector general was notified of the procession to JKIA therefore it cannot be perceived to be unlawful.

In a letter sent to the IG Joseph Boinett through the law firm of E. Sifuna and Associates on November 12, he says that the police were notified and requested to provide security during the procession/demonstration to ensure no criminal elements took place during the procession.

Edwin Sifuna also states that the arrival of the NASA leader who is perceived as a national hero is reason enough for them to be allowed at the airport (JKIA).

The letter was received by the office of the Inspector general on November 15 and the NASA lawyers were advised to inform the officer in charge of the area.Edwin Sifuna avers that they indeed notified the Embakasi OCS as advised by the office of the IG.

The @NPSOfficial_KE the IG @JBoinnet and the OCS's Embakasi and Central were duly notified on #RailaReturns processions….they have no legal basis stopping anyone from coming to JKIA. #Resist pic.twitter.com/kpoDfvv2fn

Nairobi County Commander Japheth Koome had yesterday termed the NASA procession as illegal and that they had not been notified. There were barricades along Mombasa road to prevent the NASA supporters from accessing the International airport

Edwin Sifuna said that the police had no legal basis in stopping the supporters from going to receive Raila Odinga who has since landed at the airport.
