Speaker Elachi Temporarily Replaced By Ngara MCA Chege Mwaura

Nairobi County assembly representatives have elected Ngara MCA Chege Mwaura as the temporary speaker.

Mwaura takes Beatrice Elachi’s place after her dramatic ouster from office.

On September 6, 103 MCAs voted to remove her from office, two voted against while two others abstained.

In a motion by Waithaka MCA Antony Kiragu, the ward representatives accused the former nominated senator of causing the county great embarrassment.

She was also accused of making payments of Sh550,000 from the public coffers for a suspicious “Dubai Leadership Summit”. She is also said to have traveled to Dubai using public resources to receive a “fake Honorary Doctorate Degree” from the “London Graduate School.”

She later on moved to the Employment and Labour Relations Court that suspended her impeachment. The MCAs then tried to physically eject the embattled speaker from her office on September 10.
