Police in Rabai Sub-County, Kilifi County are investigating the murder of a 70-year-old woman in Kailo/Mnyalani Village.

The incident happened on April 11, 2026, at 11:50 p.m and the deceased was identified as Mnyazi Bechungu Juma, who lived with her daughter and grandchild.

Preliminary accounts indicate that she had briefly stepped outside the house when a commotion was heard moments later.

Her daughter rushed out and found her lying in a pool of blood approximately two metres from the house.

The body had deep cuts on the left and back side of the head, suggesting a violent attack.

Police processed and documented the scene before moving the body to Coast General Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

The assailant or assailants remain unknown, and the murder weapon was not recovered. Such murder incidents targeting the old have been on the rise in the area amid efforts to solve the trend.

Elsewhere, police in Matuga Sub-County, Kwale County, are investigating the death of an unidentified middle-aged man whose body was discovered at Kombani Junction.

Police visited the scene and established that the deceased, had no visible physical injuries.

The scene was processed and documented before the body was moved to Kwale County Referral Hospital mortuary. Authorities indicated that the body is awaiting post-mortem examination and identification.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of death and circumstances surrounding the incident.

Elsewhere, police in Aberdare Sub-County, Nyandarua County, are investigating a tragic murder incident involving a four-month-old infant whose body was recovered from a shallow grave in a forest.

According to the police, the matter was initially reported after concerns were raised over a missing infant in Mwihangia Village, Karandi area.

Officers from Shamata Police Station responded and launched investigations that led them to the infant’s mother.

During interrogation, she allegedly stated that she had a dispute with the child’s father, a casual labourer in the area, over responsibility for the child.

She further alleged that on the night of April 10, 2026, at around 10:30 p.m., she left the infant, outside the father’s gate after finding it closed.

Further investigations led police to a forested area where the father allegedly guided officers to a shallow grave. The infant’s body was recovered and later exhumed.

The scene was processed and documented by investigators before the body was moved to Nyahururu County Referral Morgue, pending post-mortem examination.

Both the mother and the alleged father are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
