Nairobi dairies star Bridget Achieng recently joined the likes of Vera Sidika who have spent millions in bleaching their skin.

The actress said that she lightened her skin because she did not feel beautiful in her birth skin color because no one including her mum told her she was beautiful growing up.

She also confirmed during an interview on Dr Ofweneke’s  show that she had spent millions and was not about to stop as its now part of her life and what keeps her going since it (skin tan as she calls it) has brought her more fame and attention.

“From when I was a kid I never felt beautiful because African parents never tell you that you are beautiful. I never felt loved as a kid, I will be honest. So I thought if I do it I would feel beautiful…I don’t regret anything and the attention it comes with it keeps me going.” She confessed.

Kenyan rapper Khaligraph Jones was also under a lot of scrutiny following rumors that he had also bleached his skin. He responded to the accusation by releasing a rap single titled “Toa Tint”.

The idea of skin bleaching is highly frowned upon in the Kenyan society being that it is believed to signify the lack of appreciation for ones true skin color, however, many celebs have been seen doing it and as a result people are beginning to look at it from another perspective.
