Detectives are investigating an incident where a Fijian national collapsed and died at a restaurant at the Yaya Centre, Nairobi.
He was aged 62. Police and witnesses said he was having lunch on the second floor of the mall on Saturday January 10 when suddenly collapsed and died.
He had been served with beef noodles when he collapsed, witnesses and the hotel management said.
Medical teams responded to the scene and tried to save his life in vain.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.
In Awendo, Migori County, one Selton Oluoch, 18 died in a septic tank as he tried to retrieve his mobile phone.
Police said two other men who tried to rescue him were rescued unconscious and rushed to the hospital.
The man had slipped into the septic tank while trying to get the mobile phone prompting witnesses to raise an alarm.
Two other locals jumped in to rescue him and they also suffocated. They were however rescued and rushed to the hospital following the incident at Kogongu village.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy while the injured were admitted in hospital in a stable condition, police said.
Meanwhile, police in Majengo slums, Nairobi are investigating the murder of a 33-year-old man in an altercation.
The deceased was identified as Francis Mwangi, police said.
He had been engaged in an altercation with two people and he sustained fatal injuries in the chest. He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to the injuries on Saturday January 10, police said.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and search for the said assailants, police said.
Elsewhere in Umoja One Innercore, Nairobi, a 30-year-old man was found dead in his house.
The man had taken a nap on his bed but failed to wake up as planned.
This forced his family to go check on him when they found him dead.
His body was found lying unresponsive with saliva oozing from his mouth and moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy, police said.
