    Man fatally stabs female bar attendant in argument in Ruiru

    A female bar attendant was fatally stabbed in an argument with a suspect believed to be her boyfriend outside a bar in Ruiru, Kiambu County.

    The motive of the incident was not immediately known, police said of the Thursday March 12 morning incident.

    Police said Betty Mwiti, 30, was in the bar when the boyfriend arrived and called her outside.

    An argument broke out leading to the fatal stabbing in the chest and stomach.

    The assailant was confronted by revelers in the bar and beaten up before police came to his rescue while the woman was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

    The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy as the man was admitted in hospital under guard.

    Elsewhere, a woman aged 80 was brutally killed in a suspected murder incident in Samburu County.

    The attack occurred on March 11, 2026 at around 2:30 p.m. in Lepiroi Village, according to police.

    Police said the elderly woman identified as Jennifer Letoole was allegedly assaulted by another elderly woman believed to be around 80 years old. The suspect is said to have repeatedly cut the victim on the head using a panga.

    The victim was rushed to Samburu County Referral Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

    Police said the deceased had sustained three deep cuts to the head and that the body has been preserved at the hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.

    And a 30-year-old man died after a violent altercation at a shopping centre in Makueni County, police have confirmed.

    The incident occurred on March 11, 2026 at around 6:10 p.m. at Kithumani Shopping Centre.

    According to police, a member of the public reported that two men were engaged in a fight at the trading centre.

    Investigations established that the victim, identified as Musyoka Ndumu, had been rushed to Matiliku Level 4 Hospital with serious injuries but died while receiving treatment.

    Police said the deceased had allegedly picked a fight with a 24-year-old man who sustained injuries to his right thumb during the confrontation.

    The deceased suffered a deep cut on the left side of his chin during the altercation.

    Two suspects who were present at the scene were arrested to assist detectives with ongoing investigations.

    The body of the deceased was moved to Kilome Nursing and Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

    Police said investigations are continuing to establish the circumstances that led to the fatal fight.
