At least five people were found dead after separate drowning incidents in the country, police said.

Police said they suspect more missing persons had drowned and swept downstream in separate incidents. More than 90 people have so far been killed in separate drowning incidents linked to flooding and rains.

For instance, in Athi River, a body of a man was found tagged by branches in Mto wa Mawe after a suspected drowning incident.

The body had been swept to the area, police said as they moved it to the mortuary for identification and autopsy.

In Emuhaya, Vihiga County, the body of a man was found in the banks of river Muyamboli.

Police said the body was retrieved and moved to the mortuary and that it had decomposed.

Locals failed to identify the body as it was moved to the mortuary for other procedures, police said.

In Ahero, Kisumu County, the body of Milton Omondi, 26 was found floating on river Agalla and moved to the mortuary.

In Mogotio, Baringo County, one Anjello Emidika, 38 was found drowned in Molo River.

The man had been reported missing, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary after the discovery on March 25.

In Aboke area, Ugenya, Siaya County, a body of a man was found in River Oseme after a suspected drowning.

Police said the discovery was made on March 26 morning and later identified the deceased as George Ondero, 62.

He had been missing since March 22, locals said as the body was moved to the mortuary for autopsy.

Drowning cases have been on the rise and are attributed to heavy rains being experienced in the country. Police say more than 90 people have been killed in flood related incidents in the country in the past three weeks.

Dozens of people were displaced by the floods.

In Lungalunga area, Nairobi, police said a man was found dead after he had been attacked by a mob after he was accused of being a thief.

Police said the body of the deceased was found with visible injuries on the head near a local railway line on Thursday afternoon.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy.

Police discourage mob lynching and want suspects to be surrendered to authorities for processing.
