Football Kenya Federation boss Nick Mwendwa has appealed for more government support ahead of Harambee Stars 2019 Afcon qualifiers double header against Ethiopia next week.

The federation is also preparing the Emerging Stars for U-23 Afcon qualifiers.

Mwendwa has acknowledged receiving financial backing from the ministry of sports but he says it is not enough.

“We have received some funding from the government. This is however not enough and I am appealing for more support to enable the national team post positive results,” said the FKF President.

Kenya play Ethiopia Wednesday next week at Bahirdar Stadium, Bahirdar before hosting them in the return at the Kasarani Stadium, Nairobi Sunday.

However, with less than a week to the crucial fixtures, the federation, whose accounts were frozen, are yet to secure air tickets.

Stars revived their hopes of making the 2019 Afcon in Cameroon after edging out Ghana 1-0 in their last qualifier last month.

Kenya was last represented at the Afcon in 2004 in Tunisia.
