Asia Carrera, born Jessica Steinhauser, has achieved a dramatic career turnaround after passing the Texas bar exam and moving a step closer to becoming a licensed attorney.
Carrera announced the milestone this week, revealing that she sat for the exam in Waco in February before receiving her results.
“I passed the bar exam!!!! Asia Esquire, y’all!!!!!” she wrote in a Facebook post, celebrating the achievement.
She described the experience as intense, recalling the competitive environment inside the examination hall.
“It was an unnerving feeling to look around this massive auditorium of almost 1000 legal beagles all hunched over their laptops and typing furiously, and knowing ‘These are the people I’ve got to beat,’” she said. “But I think it went well!”
Carrera noted that she narrowly missed passing on a previous attempt by just two points, adding that she had strengthened her preparation significantly this time.
“I only missed passing by 2 points last time (268 out of 270), but I was still wobbly with the law and had borderline passing scores during my practice exams,” she explained. “This time I knew my s— down cold, and I scored higher than 91% of my Barbri Bar Prep peers on the final exam.”
According to reports, official records show Carrera has now been admitted under her birth name to the State Bar of Texas, marking a key step toward full legal practice.
Sources cited by TMZ indicate that Carrera did not initially set out to pursue a legal career, but instead aimed to challenge herself by passing the exam. However, her academic background suggests a strong foundation for the achievement.
She is a member of Mensa and reportedly has an IQ of 156. Carrera also holds a master’s degree in education.
Born in New York City to a German mother and Japanese father and raised in New Jersey, she showed early academic promise. By the age of 16, she was already teaching English at a college in Japan.
She later earned a full scholarship to Rutgers University but left before completing her studies, opting instead for work in modeling and dancing — a decision that eventually led to her career in adult entertainment.
