Former Kisumu West Member of Parliament Kenn Nyagudi has died after battling a long illness.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula confirmed his passing on Sunday, March 24, in a statement on his official X account.
According to Wetang’ula, Nyagudi died while receiving treatment at the private wing of Kenyatta National Hospital.
“I send my heartfelt sympathies to the family of former Kisumu Town West MP Rev. Kenn Nyagudi. I was privileged to have interacted with him when I was the Foreign Affairs Minister,” Wetang’ula said.
“He passed away this evening while undergoing treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital. May his family be consoled and find comfort in the Lord’s arms,” he added.
Nyagudi first entered Parliament in 2004 after winning a by-election following the death of Joab Omino in January of the same year. He served for four years before losing the seat to Olago Aluoch in the 2007 General Election.
In 2013, he made another attempt at politics, contesting for the Kisumu Central MP seat but lost to Ken Obura.
Nyagudi’s death comes just weeks after the passing of former Baringo North MP Willy Rotich Kamuren, who died on February 28 while receiving treatment in Nairobi.
