Four-year-old girl dies after wall collapses on her in Mumias

A four-year-old girl died after she was crushed by a perimeter wall in Shianda, Mumias, Kakamega County.

Police said the incident happened at the Queens Guest House on Thursday morning.

The girl was in the company of her elder sister and was crossing the perimeter wall into the guest house compound when it tumbled on them.

Police said the elder sister was helping the deceased young girl to cross when a section of the wall collapsed on her.

She was rushed to a local private hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.

Police said they are investigating the incident and that the body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other procedures.

And in Kapsokwony, Bungoma County, a 23-year-old man was electrocuted as he pruned trees at their compound.

This was after a branch of the tree he was pruning fell on live Kenya Power and Lighting cables. Police said Remmy Chemos died after the electrocution.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy. Kenya Power officials visited the scene and helped in processing it.

Such incidents have been common in rural homes where people pruning trees are electrocuted in accidents.

In Fort Jesus, Ruiru, Kiambu County, a 25-year-old man collapsed and died in his house after a long drinking session.

The man had on Wednesday night come home late and drunk. He woke up tired and stood up in his bed before he collapsed and failed to wake up.

His roommate rushed him to hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police said they are investigating the incident.

In the Gingo area, Magunga, Homa Bay County, the body of a man was found floating on Lake Victoria.

The body was not immediately identified when it was discovered on Thursday afternoon, police said. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.
