Francesca Jones is a British professional tennis player born on 19 September 2000 in Bradford, England.
She grew up in Oxenhope, West Yorkshire, before moving to Barcelona at the age of nine to train at the Sanchez-Casal Tennis Academy and later at the Ad-In Tennis Academy.
Jones was born with ectrodactyly-ectodermal dysplasia-cleft syndrome (EEC), a rare genetic condition that left her with a thumb and three fingers on each hand and a total of seven toes.
She has undergone multiple surgeries related to the condition yet has never viewed it as a barrier to pursuing her ambitions in tennis.
Away from the court she is a self-confessed foodie who enjoys traditional paella and Sunday roasts, has eclectic musical tastes that include Led Zeppelin’s Mothership, supports Manchester United.
Siblings
Francesca has two older siblings, a brother named Daniel, who is five years older, and a sister named Chloe, who is three years older.
The three children were introduced to tennis together when their father, Simon, signed them up for a summer camp at Heaton Tennis Club in Bradford after spotting a banner advertising the sessions.
Jones has spoken about how her early competitiveness was fuelled by quickly becoming better at the sport than her brother and sister, which helped spark her dedication to tennis.

Career
Jones began playing tennis at the age of five or six.
By nine she had moved to Barcelona to develop her game more intensively.
She turned professional in the mid-2010s and built her ranking primarily on the ITF Circuit, where she collected nine singles titles, all on clay.
She made her Grand Slam main-draw debut at the 2021 Australian Open after coming through qualifying and has since appeared at Wimbledon, the French Open and the US Open.
Notable milestones include reaching the semifinals of WTA Tour events in Bogotá in 2023 and São Paulo, and defeating her childhood idol Venus Williams at the Miami Open.
Jones has specialised in clay-court events and has steadily climbed the rankings, breaking into the top 100 for the first time in 2025 and achieving a career-high singles ranking of world No. 65 in February 2026.
She is coached by Adam Thornton-Brown and Carlos Martinez and has been supported by the LTA’s Pro Scholarship Programme.
Accolades
Jones has won four WTA 125 titles, including successes at Palermo and Contrexéville in 2025 and further titles in 2026, along with nine ITF singles titles.
She reached a career-high ranking of No. 65 and has earned more than $1.5 million in prize money.
Her performances have included multiple Grand Slam appearances and a memorable victory over Venus Williams.
