The body of a girl aged one and eight months was found drowned in a river in Musanda, Kakamega County.

Police said the body was found on Wednesday floating on river Lusumu long after she had died.

The circumstances surrounding the drowning were not clear even as the police moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.

Elsewhere in Machakos’ Israel area, one Edward Mwatu, 63 was found drowned in river Miwongoni.

He is said to have drowned as he rode on a motorcycle to his home. This was after the rider tried to cross the swollen river and was swept by the raging water.

The rider managed to swim through the flooded area as his pillion passenger was swept downstream the previous night on Tuesday.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

In Athi River, Machakos County, a body was found floating on Mto Mawe river. Police and locals retrieved the body of the man and took it to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

And detectives are investigating the recovery of a decomposed body from a river in Ruiru, Kiambu County.

Security guards at the Northlands City reported there was a dead body along the river banks of Nairobi River, which runs through the expansive farm.

Police visited the scene and found a badly decomposed partly mutilated body of a woman aged approximately 40 years, which might have been swept to the scene by the floods.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy, police said.

Police say they expect to find more bodies in rivers following heavy rains that were experienced in Nairobi last week. The rains caused floods that swept many people who are now missing. More than 30 bodies have so far been collected and moved to the mortuary while more than 100 cars were damaged in the chaos.

Multi agencies are still conducting searches in various places.
