Google has just announced the Android Developer Challenge for Sub-Saharan Africa. In a blog post, Google claims that it has met with over 10,000 developers in Africa. The company also claims that 300,000 Android mobiles are being activated everyday. Google is inviting the talented and creative developers to get on board and create those apps.

Winners will each receive an Android phone and US$25,000. There is growing apprehension in the Android developer community who have even threatened to ditch Android.

Among the the complaints raised by the Android Developers , who have even formed a union, is the percentage cut Google takes on applications sales. Google currently cuts 32% of app prices. Google Publishers and Advertisers have all been complaining how the company treats them.

The publishers who use Adsense to monetize their websites have been complaining of bully mentality by Google and the fact that the African offices looks more like spectator kiosks than serious offices which can address the many issues raised by developers, business community and publishers using Google products. Advertisers have been complaining of non delivery by Adwords compared with Facebook Ads though they are charged highly.
