Kenyan Premier League giants Gor Mahia are set to hold a special general meeting on 9th April 2019, as confirmed by the chairman Ambrose Rachier.

Top on the agenda of the day will be to change the club’s constitution and align it with modern practices as envisaged in the CAF Club Licensing laws and the Sports Act.

A group of fans, with the blessings of the office, have been working on a draft constitution which will be presented for adoption.

The draft proposes only four elective posts in the executive namely the Chairman, Vice-chairman, Secretary General and Treasurer with a secretariat headed by a CEO to run the club.

The current document has up-to 11 elected members.

“We wanted a fans driven process so that it may not appear as if the office is imposing their will on the people,” Rachier said.

Only registered members will be allowed attend the meeting.

“Unlike in the past when everybody attended our SGMs, this time round only registered members will be allowed, Rachier assured.

The aim of the new draft is to lay ground for professionalizing of the club with its transformation into a limited company in the next 18 months.
