Swamibapa A on win away from NCCA 50 overs glory

Swamibapa A can be crowned champions of the Nairobi County Cricket Association (NCCA) Super Division 50-Overs League 2026 on Sunday if they beat hosts Shree Cutchi Leva Patel Samaj (SCLPS YL A) at the Samaj ground, Nairobi West.

A win at Samaj would take the Swamis to an unassailable 52 points, sealing a title that has eluded them for years. Long dominant in the T20 format, Swamibapa have often played second fiddle to heavyweights like Kanbis A and Ruaraka A in the 50-overs league.

But this season has been different. After 14 matches, Swamibapa A sit top of the table with 12 wins and just 2 losses, on 48 points with a Net Run Rate of 1.316.

Chasing pack Kanbis A, Ruaraka A and Sir Ali Muslim Club A are all locked on 36 points. Kanbis A (13 matches) and Sir Ali A (13) still have 3 games in hand, but even if they win all remaining games, they cannot catch Swamibapa if the leaders win on Sunday.

Leading Swamis’ charge has been national team ace Sachin Gill, who previously guided Ruaraka A to the same title. The side also boasts in-form batter Onkar Haresh Jadhav, who is fifth on the run charts with 776 runs from 13 innings at an average of 77.60.

Sachin is not taking anything for granted ahead of the title decider. “To be honest, we are not taking anything for granted as we want to do what is best in our hand and not rely on other teams to help us. Hopefully, it can happen, winning this trophy with two games to spare and a win needed,” Sachin said.

Swamibapa captain Rushab Patel echoed the same focus. “Yes, it’s a done deal on Sunday, if all goes well. However, we must make sure we win this game against Cutchi Leva to seal the deal. All players are contributing to each game, and it has been a great team effort through the entire season,” said Rushab.

Dhwanil Patel is also expected to star for the Swamis, given a consistent season. He sits eighth on the runs’ leaderboard with 613 runs accrued from 12 innings. SCLPS YL A will not be pushovers despite their position on the log having displayed some scintillating cricket in some matches.

They are seventh on 14 points from 12 matches and are on a four-game losing streak. But playing at home, they will be keen to spoil the party. Hiren Kerai will be their main man in the match given his run score tally of 653 in 6th place.

Last weekend, Swamibapa underlined their title credentials with a 5-wicket win over Sir Ali A at Jamhuri, chasing 218 with 218/5 in 38.4 overs after bowling Sir Ali out for 217. Kanbis A also stayed in contention with a 3-wicket win over Ruaraka A (201 all out, Kanbis 206/7 in 33.4 overs), while Nairobi Gymkhana A posted the score of the season – 459/6 – to crush Stray Lions A (90 all out) by 369 runs at Peponi.

Sikh Union A edged Ngara Sports Club A by 23 runs at Ngara.

The top of the batting charts is still led by Sir Ali’s Faraz Ahmad with 935 runs from 13 innings at 71.92, followed by Ruaraka duo Satyalaksha Jain (839) and Omkar Ghule (829).

Faraz hopes to become the first player this season to hit 1000runs, and all he needs from their match against Kanbis is to score 65 runs.

–SCLPS YL B Crowned NCCA Division One Champions–

Shree Cutchi Leva Patel Samaj YL B have the NCCA Division One 50-Overs League 2026 title in the bag and their presence will be a mere formality.

SCLPS YL B sealed an unassailable 52 points last weekend, winning all 13 matches played with a staggering NRR of 2.914. They scored 2728 runs in 431.5 overs while conceding 2014 in 591.5 overs, underlining their dominance.

Wolves Cricket Club A are second on 44 points from 15 matches, 8 points adrift and out of contention. Kanbis B are third on 36 points from 13 games, followed by Nairobi Gymkhana B (32), Sir Ali Muslim Club B, Swamibapa B and Kongonis A all locked on 28 points.

The perfect record of W-W-W-W-W shows SCLPS B’s consistency in a competitive 12-team league, where Legends CC A are the table’s tail-end Charlie on just 4 points.
