Popular gospel musician Jimmy Gait was rushed to hospital for treatment after he was brutally attacked by suspected thugs in Runda, Nairobi.

He sustained deep cuts in his hand in the attack and was left bleeding. This was as he tried to defend himself.

The incident is said to have happened on Sunday morning.

The singer said the incident occurred at around 10am on February 2, 2026, as he was going about his business in the upscale estate.
He was reportedly accosted by unknown assailants who robbed him of cash and his mobile phone before injuring him.

Speaking in a video recorded at a health facility while waiting to be attended to, the visibly shaken artist recounted the ordeal.

“I was attacked by thugs, they have hurt me so much. I am full of blood all over. They have cut my finger. My hands are cut,” he said.

“It is by God’s grace I have survived. Please pray for me. Thank God I am alive. I just saw death with my own eyes.”

Police confirmed they are investigating the attack and are pursuing leads to identify and apprehend the suspects.

Meanwhile, fellow gospel artist Samuel Muraya, popularly known as DJ Mo, urged members of the public to remain vigilant against any misleading or exploitative messages that may be sent from Gait’s stolen phone.

DJ Mo cautioned fans and associates not to respond to suspicious requests for money or information, noting that the attackers made away with the artist’s device during the robbery.

The incident has sparked concern among fans and renewed calls for heightened security, even in Nairobi’s affluent neighborhoods.
