There is a looming battle in the Machakos county assembly between the governor, Alfred Mutua and Members of the county assembly.
The governor has placed in office the seven ministers that the county assembly had earlier rejected.
According to the governor he followed the correct procedures set out in article 179(2)b of the constitution as read together with section 30 2 (d), (e) and 35 of the county government’s act, 2012.
He said that the county assembly had failed to approve the nominations within the 21 days stipulated in the appointment guidelines.
In his defense Mutua said that he was forced to place the nominees in office as the county assembly failed to debate on the report and interruptions seeking stoppage of the discussion of the appointments.

He said that he made the appointments in good faith and for the good of the county.
The new ministers are Evelyn Mutie, in charge of energy,lands and housing while engineer Morris Aluanga assumes the roads, transport and public works docket. Titus Nzeki was appointed to the county administration and decentralized units.
Governor Mutua is facing a hard time working with the county assembly which is hell bent on ousting him ever since he was elected.
His election was nullified after Wavinya Ndeti moved to the court of appeal.
