Unknown people in Migori, suspected to be Governor Okoth Obado’s aides have been buying all newspapers from vendors by 6am, to deter the public from getting any information related to Sharon Otieno’s murder.

The ‘buyers’ have been making sure that no paper circulates in Migori since the news of the murder of Sharon. Vendors, supermarkets and any outlet that sells newspapers are not spared by the ‘sweep’, seemingly aimed at keeping Obado’s name clean.

According to local vendors who spoke to a local daily, the ‘buyers’ come as early as 6am and buy all the leading papers, and even give them a ‘bonus’.

“Three people come around and order all the newspapers. They pay for all of them and even give us tips. Given that all we need is to sell the papers we have no option,” said Fred Omondi, a newspaper vendor.

Governor Obado and his personal assistant have been adversely mentioned in the murder of the second year university student Sharon Otieno, who was murdered in cold blood last week

Sharon was kidnapped alongside Nation journalist Barrack Oduor, who escaped death by jumping from a moving car.

The journalist said that he was investigating a love affair gone sour between Governor Obado and Sharon, where he was invited by Obado’s Persona assistant Michael Oyamo for details. It is said that Oyamo left the duo in the hands of the suspected murderers.

A postmortem report of Sharon’s death, carried out by government pathologist Johansen Oduor revealed that she was brutally stabbed 8 times, strangled and was possibly raped by her assailants.

In the postmortem, Governor Obado sent his lawyer Cliff Ombeta to witness the process.
