The government has announced a countrywide recruitment exercise for prison constables, cadet officers, technicians, and artisans in the Kenya Prisons Service.
In a notice released by the Commissioner General of Prisons, Patrick Arandum, the recruitment is scheduled to take place on April 30, 2025, at various venues across the country.
According to the announcement, all applicants must be Kenyan citizens with a valid national ID card and a clean criminal record. They must also have scored a minimum of grade D+ in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Applicants must be aged between 18 and 28 years and should have a minimum height of 5 feet 4 inches. In addition, they are required to have good hearing and clear vision.
“Female candidates must not be pregnant at the time of recruitment or during initial training period,” Arandum said.
For those applying for the position of cadet officer, a degree from a recognized university is mandatory.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-military training program lasting no less than nine months.
Commissioner Arandum also warned against bribery and the use of fake documents during the recruitment process, stressing that anyone found engaging in such practices will face legal action.
