US television presenter Savannah Guthrie and her family have appealed to the public to continue to help search for their missing mother, who police believe was abducted seven weeks ago.

“We desperately ask this community for renewed attention to our mom’s case,” the Guthrie family said in a new statement shared with NBC Tucson affiliate KVOA for a special report on the case.

Authorities have been searching for Guthrie’s 84-year-old mother Nancy Guthrie since she was reported missing from her Tucson, Arizona on 1 February.

Footage previously released from outside Nancy Guthrie’s home revealed a masked figure, but nearly two months later, police still do not have a suspect.

In their statement to KVOA released on Saturday, the Guthrie family thanked the community of Tucson for its support in the ongoing search for Nancy Guthrie, and included a renewed request for information.

“We continue to believe it is Tucsonans, and the greater southern Arizona community, that hold the key to finding resolution in this case,” the family said. “Someone knows something.”

“Please consult camera footage, journal notes, text messages, observations or conversations that in retrospect may hold significance. No detail is too small. It may be the key.”

“We miss our mom with every breath and we cannot be in peace until she is home,” the family added.
“We cannot grieve; we can only ache and wonder. Our focus is solely on finding her and bringing her home.”

Since their mother’s disappearance, Savannah Guthrie and her siblings have posted multiple videos on social media, including making direct appeals to their mother’s captor. They are offering $1m (£760,000) reward for information to leads to her return, in addition to the $100,000 reward offered by the FBI.

“She may be lost, she may already be gone,” Savannah Guthrie said in a video shared in February.
A nationwide search has unveiled clues, including DNA evidence and alleged ransom notes, but no suspect has been identified.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, who has been leading the investigation with the help of the FBI, has said the authorities believe the 84-year-old was specifically targeted, but they are “not 100% sure of that”.

In February, police released video footage from outside Nancy Guthrie’s home taken the night they believe she was abducted against her will. It showed a masked suspect, who police believe was armed, tampering with the camera.

Police have asked neighbours for surveillance footage from the night Guthrie went missing, as well as from other dates in the lead-up to her disappearance.
