Harry Maguire, full name Jacob Harry Maguire, is an English professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Premier League club Manchester United and the England national team.
Born on 5 March 1993 in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, he has established himself as a commanding, aerially dominant defender known for his leadership, ball-playing ability, and physical presence.
Maguire rose from lower-league football with Sheffield United to become one of the most expensive defenders in the world, serving as Manchester United captain for several years and earning regular caps for England in major tournaments.
Siblings
Harry comes from a football-oriented family with three siblings; two brothers, Joe and Laurence, and a younger sister named Daisy.
His brothers have also pursued careers in football, with Joe playing at non-league level for clubs such as Glossop North End and Laurence serving as a defender for clubs including Chesterfield and Milton Keynes Dons.
Daisy, who is athletic and competitive like her brothers, has been described as a strong defender in her own right during her playing days and remains a vocal supporter of Harry’s career, often appearing in family moments and even interviewing him publicly.

Career
Maguire began his professional career at Sheffield United, making his debut as a teenager and progressing through the ranks before moving to Hull City in 2014.
After a loan spell at Wigan Athletic, he joined Leicester City in 2017, where he played every minute of the Premier League season in 2017-18 and earned Player of the Season honours, helping stabilise the Foxes’ defence.
His standout performances led to a world-record transfer fee for a defender when Manchester United signed him for £80 million in August 2019.
He quickly became a key figure at Old Trafford, appointed club captain in 2020, and has since made over 200 appearances despite fluctuating form and competition for places.
Internationally, Maguire has been a mainstay for England since his debut in 2017, featuring prominently at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where he helped the team reach the semi-finals, and at subsequent European Championships.
