    Early Life

Kolo Habib Touré was born on March 19, 1981, in Bouaké, Ivory Coast. Raised in a football-loving family, Touré’s passion for the sport developed early alongside his brothers, Yaya Touré and Ibrahim Touré, both of whom also became professional players. He began his football journey at ASEC Mimosas, one of West Africa’s most renowned football academies, where he honed his defensive skills and tactical intelligence.

    Club Career

Touré’s professional breakthrough came when Arsenal signed him in February 2002. Managed by Arsène Wenger, the Ivorian quickly impressed with his versatility, athleticism, and commitment. Although he made his debut later that year in the FA Community Shield against Liverpool, it was the 2003–04 season that etched his name into football history.

Touré was a key part of Arsenal’s legendary “Invincibles” team that went unbeaten throughout the entire Premier League season — a feat unmatched to this day. His defensive partnership with Sol Campbell and later with Philippe Senderos and William Gallas helped Arsenal maintain one of the best defensive records in Europe.

He remained with the Gunners until 2009, winning several honors including:

    • Premier League title (2003–04)
    • FA Cup (2002–03, 2004–05)
    • FA Community Shield (2002, 2004)

In 2009, Touré transferred to Manchester City for a reported fee of £14 million, signing a four-year contract. At City, he played a pivotal role in the team’s rise to prominence, helping lay the foundation for their modern success. He contributed both experience and leadership during a transformative period for the club, which culminated in City’s first major trophies of the modern era.

Following his spell at City, Touré joined Liverpool in May 2013 on a free transfer. At Anfield, he continued to be a dependable figure both on the field and in the dressing room, mentoring younger players and providing defensive stability when called upon.

    International Career with Ivory Coast

Kolo Touré represented Ivory Coast at the international level from 2000 until 2015, earning over 100 caps and scoring three goals for his country. He was part of the national squad during a golden era for Ivorian football, playing alongside his brother Yaya Touré, Didier Drogba, and Gervinho.

    Coaching Career

After retiring from professional football in 2017, Touré transitioned into coaching. He worked as a member of the coaching staff at Celtic and Leicester City, both under manager Brendan Rodgers. In 2022, he took his first managerial position with Wigan Athletic, marking a new chapter in his football journey.

    Personal Life

Kolo Touré is married and has two children. Known for his humility and discipline, he has maintained a low profile away from the spotlight. His family has strong footballing ties — his younger brother Yaya Touré achieved global fame as a Manchester City midfielder, while his late brother Ibrahim Touré also played professionally.
