How to Boil Beetroot

  1. Choose and Wash the Beetroot

Select fresh, firm beetroot with smooth skin and no signs of spoilage.

Wash each beetroot thoroughly under running water to remove dirt and debris. Avoid peeling the beetroot before boiling, as the skin helps retain colour and nutrients during cooking.

  1. Prepare the Pot

Place the whole beetroot in a large pot and add enough water to cover them completely.

Using enough water ensures even cooking and prevents the beetroot from drying out during boiling.

  1. Boil Until Tender

Once the water reaches a rolling boil, reduce the heat slightly and allow the beetroot to simmer.

Cooking time depends on the size of the beetroot, with smaller ones taking about 30 to 40 minutes and larger ones taking up to 60 minutes or longer.

  1. Cool and Peel the Beetroot

Remove the cooked beetroot from the hot water and allow them to cool until they are comfortable to handle.

Rub the skin gently with your hands, a paper towel, or a clean cloth. The skin should come off easily without using a knife.
