Call barring is a useful mobile feature that allows users to block specific types of incoming or outgoing calls, such as international calls or calls when roaming. However, if you no longer need these restrictions, you can easily cancel call barring and restore full calling access. Knowing how to cancel call barring on MTN South Africa helps you manage your phone settings and stay connected without limitations.

    1. Understand What Call Barring Means

Call barring is a network feature that restricts certain types of calls on your phone line. It can be used to prevent accidental international calls, avoid roaming charges, or block unwanted incoming calls. While it is a handy feature, you might need to deactivate it if you want to make or receive all types of calls again.

    1. Know the Call Barring Password

To cancel call barring, you need the call barring password or PIN. Most MTN South Africa SIM cards use 0000 as the default password unless it has been changed. If you have changed your password and forgotten it, you can contact MTN customer care to reset it before proceeding.

    1. Cancel Call Barring Using USSD Codes

The simplest way to cancel call barring is by using USSD codes directly from your phone. Open your dial pad and enter one of the following codes depending on what you want to cancel:

    • To cancel all outgoing call barring, dial #33*0000# and press the call button.
    • To cancel all incoming call barring, dial #35*0000#.
    • To cancel all call barring (both incoming and outgoing), dial #330*0000#.

After entering the code, wait for a confirmation message indicating that call barring has been successfully deactivated.

    1. Cancel Call Barring Through Phone Settings

You can also cancel call barring from your phone’s settings menu. On most smartphones, go to Settings, then Network & Internet or Connections, and select Call Settings. Tap on Call Barring and turn off all the active barring options. Enter your password (usually 0000) to confirm the action. Once done, the restrictions will be removed.

    1. Contact MTN Customer Support

If the USSD or settings method does not work, call MTN Customer Care by dialling 135 from your MTN line. Explain that you want to cancel call barring. The support agent will verify your details and help you deactivate the feature.
