How to Change Default Google Account

Knowing how to change the default Google account is useful if you use multiple Google accounts for personal, work, or school purposes. Your default Google account is the one automatically used when you access Google services such as Gmail, Drive, YouTube, and Google Calendar. Since Google sets the first account you sign in to as the default, changing it requires signing out and signing back in using the account you want to make your primary account.
-
Sign Out of All Google Accounts
Open your web browser and go to any Google service such as Gmail.
Click your profile picture in the top-right corner and select the option to sign out of all your Google accounts.
This removes the current default account setting.
- Open a Google service
- Click your profile picture
- Sign out of all accounts
-
Sign In with Your Preferred Default Account
After signing out, sign in again using the Google account you want to become your default account.
The first account you sign in to automatically becomes your default Google account.

-
Add Your Other Google Accounts
Once your preferred account is signed in, add your remaining Google accounts.

- Sign in to your other accounts
