Closing a TFG (The Foschini Group) store account may be necessary when you no longer use the credit or want to simplify your finances. To avoid penalties and credit issues, the process must be completed correctly. Proper closure ensures your credit record remains clean and you do not continue receiving monthly charges.

    1. Pay Off the Outstanding Balance

Before your account can be closed, ensure you have settled any remaining amount, including dues from recent purchases, interest and service fees. Request a final statement from TFG to confirm the exact balance. Payments can be made in-store, via EFT or using the TFG app.

    1. Cancel Any Insurance Linked to the Account

Some TFG accounts include optional insurance products such as customer protection insurance. Ask the consultant to remove these once the account is paid up. This prevents additional monthly fees while waiting for closure.

    1. Contact TFG Customer Service

Once your balance is fully paid, contact TFG to request account closure. You can do this in several ways:

    • Visit any TFG store (Foschini, Totalsports, Markham, Exact, Sportscene, etc.)
    • Call customer care (details available on your latest statement)
    • Email their support team requesting closure

Provide your ID number and account information for verification.

    1. Request Written Confirmation

Ask for a paid-up letter or closure confirmation. This document proves that the account has been settled and officially closed. It is useful if the account still appears active on your credit profile later.

    1. Check Your Credit Profile

After a few weeks, review your credit report to ensure your TFG account shows as closed and paid up. You can check through major credit bureaus like TransUnion and Experian. If the account still appears open, contact TFG again with your proof of closure.

    1. Keep All Documents for Records

Store receipts, statements and your paid-up letter in case you need them for future disputes. Good recordkeeping helps protect your credit status.
