How To Draw A Minion

Drawing a Minion is a fun and easy way to practice cartoon drawing. Minions are the small, yellow, funny characters from the Despicable Me movies. They have a simple shape and playful features, making them perfect for kids or beginners to draw. Follow these steps on how to draw a minion.

Step 1: Draw the Body Shape

Start by drawing a tall oval shape with a flat top and bottom—like a rounded rectangle standing upright. This is the Minion’s body. You can make it short and wide or tall and slim, depending on the style you want.

Step 2: Add the Eyes and Goggles

Draw one or two large circles near the top of the body for the eyes. Minions can have either one or two eyes. Around each eye, draw another circle slightly larger to form the goggles. Add a small black circle inside each eye for the pupils, and leave a tiny white spot to make the eyes look shiny.

Next, draw two lines from the sides of the goggles to each side of the head to create the goggle strap.

Step 3: Draw the Mouth and Face Details

Under the eyes, draw a wide smile or a silly expression using curved lines. You can add a small tongue or teeth inside the mouth. Some Minions also have a few tiny hairs sticking out from the top of their heads—draw short straight lines if you want to include them.

Step 4: Sketch the Overalls

Minions wear blue overalls. Start by drawing two straps going from the shoulders down to the middle of the body. Then draw a square or rectangular pocket in the center of their chest. Add lines for the bottom of the overalls near the waist and two small buttons where the straps meet the body.

Step 5: Add Arms and Hands

Draw arms coming out from the sides of the body. They can be bent or straight. Add simple gloves by drawing small rounded hands with fingers—usually three or four. Minion hands are usually black, like gloves.

Step 6: Draw Legs and Shoes

At the bottom of the body, draw two short legs. Then, draw small boots or shoes—rounded and simple. Color them black or dark gray.

Step 7: Outline and Color

Go over your drawing with a dark pen or marker. Erase any pencil lines you no longer need. Then color your Minion: yellow for the body, blue for the overalls, gray for the goggles, black for gloves and shoes, and white for the eyes.
