If you want to keep certain photos private on your Samsung phone, there are several built-in tools that make it easy to hide them from the gallery. Whether you’re protecting personal memories or sensitive content, Samsung’s privacy features help keep your pictures secure and out of sight.
- Use Samsung Secure Folder
Samsung phones come with a built-in Secure Folder that allows you to store photos privately behind a PIN, password, or biometric lock.
- Open Settings > Security and privacy > Secure Folder
- Sign in with your Samsung account and set up a lock method
- Once set up, open Secure Folder, tap Add files, and select Images
- Choose the photos you want to hide and tap Move
These pictures will be removed from the regular Gallery and can only be viewed inside Secure Folder.
- Hide Albums in the Gallery App
You can make entire albums invisible from the Gallery without deleting anything.
- Open the Gallery app
- Tap the three dots (menu) at the top right
- Select Hide albums
- Toggle off any albums you want to hide
This method is simple and doesn’t move your files—just hides them from casual browsing.
- Move Photos to a Private Folder
You can manually create a hidden folder in your file manager.
- Open the My Files app
- Tap Internal storage or SD card
- Create a new folder and name it starting with a dot (e.g., .HiddenPics)
- Move your pictures into this folder
Folders that begin with a dot are hidden from most gallery apps but can still be accessed through file managers.
- Use a Third-Party App Locker (Optional)
If you want additional security or features, you can use trusted apps like Keepsafe, Vault, or Gallery Lock to hide pictures. Download from the Play Store, then follow the app’s steps to import and protect your images. - Archive Photos on Google Photos
If you use Google Photos, you can archive photos so they don’t appear in the main gallery view.
- Open Google Photos
- Select the photo(s)
- Tap the three dots and choose Archive
They’ll stay saved but hidden from your main feed.
