A dishwasher makes cleaning dishes easier and more efficient, but using it correctly ensures your dishes come out spotless while extending the life of your machine. Proper loading, detergent use, and maintenance all play a role in getting the best results. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to use dishwasher.

    1. Loading the Dishwasher Properly
    • Scrape off food debris before placing dishes in the dishwasher. There’s no need to pre-rinse, but large food particles should be removed.
    • Place plates, bowls, and larger items on the bottom rack. Ensure they are spaced apart so water can reach all surfaces.
    • Arrange cups, glasses, and small dishes on the top rack. Place them upside down to allow water to drain properly.
    • Position silverware in the cutlery basket, with forks and spoons alternating up and down to prevent nesting. Knives should be placed with the blade facing down for safety.
    • Avoid overloading to ensure every item gets cleaned properly.
    1. Adding Dishwasher Detergent
    • Use only dishwasher detergent, as regular dish soap can cause excessive suds and damage the machine.
    • Pour detergent into the designated compartment. Check the instructions on your dishwasher or detergent packaging for the correct amount.
    • If your dishwasher has a rinse aid dispenser, fill it to prevent water spots on glassware.
    1. Selecting the Right Wash Cycle
    • Normal cycle: Best for everyday loads of dishes with moderate dirt.
    • Heavy or pots & pans cycle: Ideal for heavily soiled dishes, cookware, and baked-on food.
    • Eco cycle: Saves water and energy but may take longer.
    • Quick wash: A faster cycle for lightly soiled dishes.
    1. Running the Dishwasher
    • Ensure the dishwasher door is securely closed before starting.
    • Press the start button and let the cycle run completely.
    • Avoid opening the dishwasher mid-cycle, as this can release hot steam and disrupt the cleaning process.
    1. Unloading the Dishwasher
    • Wait for the dishwasher to cool down before opening to avoid steam burns.
    • Start unloading from the bottom rack first to prevent water from dripping onto dry dishes below.
    • Remove utensils and separate them before storing.
    1. Maintaining Your Dishwasher
    • Clean the filter regularly to prevent food buildup and keep the machine working efficiently.
    • Wipe the door seals and spray arms to remove grease and detergent residue.
    • Run a cleaning cycle once a month using a dishwasher cleaner or vinegar to remove limescale and odors.
