I got this printer about three weeks ago. The HP Deskjet 3050 all-in-one is a small, entry-level intended for the home or home office market. The printer is an improvement from the DeskJet 1050. I comes with a a mono colour LCD display with three soft buttons used to select the printer’s menu options.
The DesJet 3050 printer’s paper feeds from a 60-sheet rear tray to a front tray and there it has two print cartridges, black and tri-colour. Even though this is an entry level printer, it still manage to pack a standard wireless connection as well as USB and supports easy WPS setup. WPA code access will require computer to setup.
The HP Deskjet 3050 print speeds are not that quick, but OK! for its class of printers. We averaged around 6.5-ppm for black and 2.5-ppm for colour. One single page colour completed in around 30 seconds which is ok for its category.
I love the design and feel of the printer and seeing it sit on my desk is such a match. HP deviates from the DeskJet 1050 dark brown or the white and grey seen in most of its printers to pack the DeskJet 3050 in a glossy black casing.
Traditionally, HP has been tops with excellent print quality throughout its range. The Deskjet 3050 is not a big match but works for its range though you will witness that black text is blurred and in some places looks to smear along the line. Colours prints are quite reasonable and photo prints look good.
The main mistake people make with all-in-ones is that they open a small business of photocopying and wants to do all their massive copying on such a machine. You will run at a loss if you try that because this machine is meant for very extremely low volume of printing.
Verdict
This machine is useful small all-in-one with a great feature set, finish and feel. Print quality is fair and the running costs are also average. You should just avoid doing heavy work with this machine and maintain a dust free environment for this machine to serve you well.
