Ichuni Ward MCA, Gekonge Mirieri was left covering his face after he sent out a condolence card instead of a success card to class 8 candidates in Kisii County.
Pupils from Bogeche Primary School were surprised when they received the card on Monday morning.
One teacher only realized when he stood in front of the pupils to read the message from the card during exams rehearsals on Monday.
“We got many other cards but as usual we gave Mheshimiwa’s card some preference only to realize it was a condolence card,” he said.
“We are deeply sorry for the loss. Please accept our heartfelt sympathies for your loss. Our thoughts are with your family during this difficult times,” reads the card.
Residents and parents in Ichuni ward were left perturbed as they said that that was a reckless move from the MCA, as a person of his status is not expected to make such mistakes.
Mr Mirieri has in turn accused his political enemies for replacing his card so as to paint him in a bad light.
Speaking to one of the dailies, Mr Mireri said that he could not do that to the children and blamed the incident on his former competitors.
