Joe Mucheru, CS for Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) has condemned NASA’s leadership on their directive to Kenyans to boycott Nation Media Group products.
In a press statement, the CS said the remarks amounted to curtailing of press freedom.
The leaders including Raila Odinga, Millie Odhiambo, James Orengo among others, asked their supporters not to purchase the Daily Nation and avoid at all cost watching NTV.
Mucheru criticized the leaders saying: “To single out particular newspapers and TV stations for attack simply because of their opinions is not only unconstitutional, it is an assault on the very foundation upon which Kenya’s democracy is founded.”

“We therefore condemn the reckless and thoughtless attack on the country’s free press by the Nasa leaders.”
“The Government wishes to assure all media organizations in Kenya that their staff and establishments are protected by law from any criminal acts and no amount of intimidation should discourage them from doing their work,” the statement read.
The CS also asked Kenyans to resume their daily routines and report back to work.
