Nyamira County will hold by-elections in Nyansiongo, Nyamaiya, and Ekerenyo Wards, while Turkana County will have elections in Lake Zone and Nanaam Wards.

Baringo County will hold a Senate by-election.

Six constituencies will also go to the polls: Banissa, Kasipul, Magarini, Malava, Mbeere North, and Ugunja.

According to the notice, political parties intending to take part must submit the names and specimen signatures of their authorised officials by September 17, 2025. Public officers wishing to contest must resign within seven days of the notice.

“The Commission shall publish, in the Gazette, the names of the persons contesting in a party primary and the date of the party primary within seven (7) days of receipt of the names of the candidates,” the notice reads.

“Candidates intending to participate in the by-elections as independent candidates shall not have been members of any political party at least three (3) months immediately before the date of the by-elections.”

Nomination of political party and independent candidates will take place on October 8 and 9, 2025.

Candidates will present their nomination papers to the respective returning officers between 8:00 am and 1:00 pm, and 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm, at locations designated by the IEBC.
