In an official notice Friday, March 14, Selection Panel Chairman Nelson Makanda announced that the shortlisted candidates would begin their interviews on Monday, March 24.

The panel has narrowed down the initial list of 37 applicants to 11, who will now face the final vetting process.

“The Selection Panel hereby publishes the names of applicants shortlisted for the position of Chairperson and Member of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, as well as the date and time for the respective oral interviews,” part of the notice read.

The shortlisted candidates include Abdulqadir Lorot H. Ramadhan, Anne Atieno Amadi, Charles Ayako Nyachae, Edward Katama Ngeywa, Erastus Edung Ethekon, Francis Kakai Kissinger, Jacob Ngwele Muvengei, Joy Brenda Masinde-Mdivo, Lilian Wanjiku Manegene, Robert Akumu Asembo, and Saul Simiyu Wasilwa.

The 11 candidates have been divided into three groups. The first four will be interviewed on Monday, March 24, the second batch on Tuesday, March 25, while the final three will appear before the panel on Wednesday, March 26.

Additionally, the panel has shortlisted 105 candidates for the position of IEBC commissioner, with interviews scheduled to run until April 24. Among them, 32 are women.

The oral interviews will be conducted in public at the College of Insurance, South C, Nairobi County. Candidates are required to present their original national identity card or passport, along with academic certificates and testimonials, which must be returned to them before leaving the venue.

Kenyans have been invited to submit any relevant information regarding the suitability of the shortlisted candidates. Memoranda concerning applicants for the chairperson position must be submitted by March 19 at 5 pm, while those concerning commissioner candidates must be submitted by March 26 at 5 pm.
