Authorities in Nairobi have seized 2,000 litres of illicit alcohol and destroyed an additional 9,000 litres during a crackdown in Kawangware.
In a statement released Monday, the Nairobi Region Sierra Team said the operation was carried out within the Congo area of Kawangware. During the raid, officers recovered 2,000 litres of illegal brew as evidence, along with six copper coils used in the distillation process.
At the scene, 5,000 litres of chang’aa and 4,000 litres of kangara were destroyed.
Three suspects identified as Beatrice Tera, Richard Kibue, and Moses Mavui were arrested during the operation.
“All were booked at Capitol Hill Police Station and will appear in court,” the statement read.
